For the NYC Peoples Climate March in September 2014, myself and a few close colleagues were enlisted to build two bicycle-powered parade float platforms.

On one of the platforms we constructed an armature, which Monica Hunken then transformed, using junk auto parts and empty oil bottles, into an amazing Dinosaur sculpture meant to be a symbolic "Harbinger of the Death of the Fossil Fuel Era". Yes!! (note the oil bottle vertebrae detail)

The platform is now being employed as a HP truck for local jobs, mostly pick-ups and deliveries.

Designed and built in the Spring of  2007, The Spin Bunny/ Battle Wagon is a 2 person Dicycle/interactive sculpture. The impetus for this project was to create a vehicle which requires cooperative navigation.

Participants are challenged with a simple course while each controlling one of the two wheels and facing in opposite directions.

Over the years, ever grateful riders have been invited to Battle & Spin at the Figment Festival on Governors Island in NYC, and has made appearances in the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island, the Myrtle Ave Street Fair, Black Label Bicycle Clubs' BikeKill in Brooklyn, and the Maker Faire.

This project was conceived by Aaron “Philly” Von Klingelhoefer & executed through the Brooklyn based art combine Madagascar Institute (R.I.P.) in Stradbally, Ireland as a part of the Electric Picnic Festival in 2008. Meant to be an interactive sculpture and "Green Carnival Ride" as a wind and waterwheel powered 360 degree swing, it was ultimately mostly Hackett-powered.

This Lower East side Restaurant opened late summer of 2013. Most of the metalwork fixtures were custom built by IRIS FAB, including major portions of the main staircase and the hand rails, the unique bar tap handles and portions of the custom woodworking.

Unfortunately this project seems to have never been meant to be a restaurant at all, but a grifting scheme to steal fortunes from old ladies and other unsuspecting investors. It closed almost as soon as it opened. Shamefully the evil bastards who concocted the scam never did any time, despite an FBI investigation. Many of the workers, including myself, were never fully compensated for their work. May you reap what you sow!

IRIS FAB has worked closely with the artist Swoon since 2005 with her inaugural gallery installation at Deitch Projects. 

Several partnerships followed including the Swimming cities of the Switchback Seas (2008) on the Hudson and East Rivers, and Swimming Cities of Serenissima (2009) in the north Adriatic and Venice, Italy. Both projects were traveling graphic, theatrical and sculptural interventions powered by custom made motor driven art rafts.

The project was dubiously featured in a film showcasing some utopias around the world called “Empire Me”. Also a beautiful art film by Tod Chandler called “Flood Tide”.

These are two large scale sculptures by artist Mike Ross. In 2007, the volunteer skeleton crew narrowly and victoriously completed  Big Rig Jig on schedule for the Burning Man festival. The sculpture is made from 2 reconfigured semi trucks and tanker trailers. In 2017 some of the crew and family assembled to celebrate the permanent installation in Las Vegas, NV. Long live Judge Cal!

In 2010 I pitched in with fabrication of Jet Kiss, a public sculpture build from decommissioned A-4 fighter jets. It was commissioned by the city of Seattle, and installed as a part of their new light rail/subway system. Since 2016 it can be found at the Capitol Hill underground station.

Titan Monad are conceived as massive interactive signifiers of universal unity. They are impatiently waiting to manifest in actual reality. The delivery method for installation is by aircraft, ideally.

In Spring 2005 Jeff Stark organized an art collective called The Amateurs. Paintball By Numbers was the only project we all executed together. This we did at 3 venues: Flux Factory in Queens, NY; Urban Festival in Zabreb, Croatia; and Robodock Festival at NDSM Warf in Amsterdam, NL. At each venue we made unique firing turrets and murals. It was a glorious summer and the closest I’ve ever come to being a working artist. Thanks Jeff.

These are an assortment of Bicycle Projects based projects.

First two pictured were for the Lower East Side Ecology Center.

1) Fishbike: LESEC has weekend fishing workshops on the East River where they teach river ecololgy through catch and release. The facility was built on a Worksman Tricycle platform.

2) Dump-Trike: They also have an E-waste recycling center in Gowanus, Brooklyn. An old pedicab trike was transformend into a pedal powered pick-up service vehicle with a tilting and locking cargo bin.

3) Soil Cycle mobile compost grinder and classroom facility made with Brooke Singer in Brooklyn, NY.

4) Misc. pics of truck for various gigs on my homemade cargo rides.

IRIS FAB is committed to using pedal power for transportation as often as feasible. Its more fun that way.

This boutique coffee bar was located at Houston and Bowery. Unfortunately it was closed a few years ago, such is the city. IRIS FAB was responsible for fabrication, re-design and installation of the unique wrap-around counter-top, bar and bench. It was the centerpiece of one of the most attractive micro-cafes in Manhattan. 

Greenlight Bookstore, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, was built by IRIS FAB in fall of 2009.

This cabinet and shelving unit was built with Ben Cohen for "Cabinets of Wonder" exhibit at the Childrens Museum of Arts New York.

IRISFAB worked closely with museum management to design and build the "Gypsy Gallery" as a modular flexible format display unit which can be deployed as a single or double tier array.
